Marble Falls stone is rarely a stock width, and the coping you're replacing is usually 20 years past its drawings. Snap the piece or a hand sketch with one tape measurement — we draw it in FlashDraft and confirm every dimension with you.

Three things show up on Marble Falls jobs again and again. Here's what each one means for the flashing, and the fastest way to get it made.
The condition
Granite and stone parapets
Granite Mountain, just northwest of town, supplied the red granite for the Texas Capitol, and a lot of Marble Falls is built of stone. Stone walls wander in width end to end.
Public filings, Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TABS). AFS is not involved in these projects unless stated. Each card links to its state record.

The condition
Hail re-roofs
When a storm comes through, roofers re-roof whole neighborhoods at once — and every re-roof needs new edge metal and flashing.
NOAA Storm Events: 2.75-inch hail in Marble Falls on April 9, 2024 (event 1172088).

A stone wall, measured run by run
Granite walls jog, step and turn. Walk the parapet with a tape, then let the Roof Edge calculator turn your runs into a cut list.
1Pick coping, add each wall run with its length, and mark every corner inside or outside.
2Set the piece length, splice lap and corner legs, and how each end finishes: end cap or dying into a wall.
3Get straight pieces, joints, corners, end caps and cleat length, run by run, with short closers flagged.
4Add it to a submittal, download the spreadsheet, or send it to us for a quote.

The parapet is the short wall that rises above the roof edge. The coping is the cap on top of it that sheds water off the wall and protects the top of the masonry. We form metal coping to the measured width of your wall.
A formed metal cap that covers the top of a parapet wall, with legs running down both faces and a drip or hem at each edge. It is usually held by a continuous cleat so it can move with temperature changes.
It depends on the wall width (which sets the stretch-out), the gauge, the finish and the linear footage. Send plans through Scan to Quote or a photo through Photo to Quote and we will price your exact run.
A reglet is a groove cut or cast into masonry, or a surface-mounted receiver, that the counterflashing tucks into. It lets counterflashing lap over the base flashing without being face-nailed through the stone.
Base flashing turns up the wall from the roof. Counterflashing comes down from the wall and laps over the top of the base flashing so water cannot get behind it, while letting the roof and wall move independently.
Where parapets or other construction would trap water if the primary drains clog, the building code requires secondary (overflow) drainage. Overflow scuppers through the parapet are one common way to provide it. Our Roof Drainage calculator helps size them.
Sizing comes from the roof area it drains and the design rainfall rate in the plumbing code tables, with the opening height and width chosen to carry that flow. Run the numbers in our free Roof Drainage calculator, then send the size for fabrication.
No. A gravel stop has a raised lip that holds ballast or gravel on a low-slope roof and a face that runs down the fascia. Drip edge is a simpler edge that kicks water clear of the fascia, mostly on steep-slope roofs.
ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435 ES-1 is the test standard for wind resistance of low-slope roof edge systems. AFS fabricates Drexel Metals ES-1 edge systems under Drexel's certification program.
Box gutters sit inside the roof line, so leaks show up inside the building. Typical causes are failed seams, undersized outlets and no overflow. A properly sized gutter with soldered or sealed seams and a planned overflow avoids most of it.
