Production scheduling and traceability: defects, verification and case study

Mixed paint batches, a wrong revision, heat identity lost at cutting on a job that requires it, an unconfirmed machine send, a delivery booked a day late and storage stain: what each looks like, how it is corrected, and the evidence that proves it.

You will be able to: Diagnose a scheduling or traceability defect, choose a correction and document the evidence for review.

Defect: mixed batches on one elevation

ECCA warns that mixing panels from different batches at random on one elevation significantly increases the risk of visible colour variation.

Correction: rearrange so each visible plane holds one batch, changing batch only at a corner, joint or shadow line; next time, decide it at procurement.

Glossary

Unconfirmed send (AFS)
An AFS send to the folder catalog where the profile was created but its number did not come back; it is not retried, because a retry could duplicate a real profile.
Modified-from profile (AFS)
At AFS, the new locked profile saved when staff change a customer's profile; it records what it came from, who made it and when, and the original stays unchanged.
Audit trail
Records of who did what and when; at AFS, admin actions are logged with the values before and after the change.
Proof of delivery (AFS)
The receiving person's on-screen signature and name, stored with the AFS delivery and shown on the receipt.
